About The Role
The Treasury team is uniquely positioned in the center of processing Remitlys global transaction flows and enabling business growth. Remitly is a unique work environment with extraordinary business growth which is perfect for someone looking for an exciting challenge and career opportunity.
The ideal candidate will use their skills and experience needed to lead our ongoing efforts to build and manage a scalable and efficient Treasury FX Trading and Funding function within the Africa region.
You Will
Engage in trading across multiple currencies in the Africa region, managing the complexities and risks associated with exotic currency pairs
Identify and engage new partners to enhance liquidity in the Africa region. Continuously manage relationships with partners within the area
Partner with the Business Development team in commercial negotiations by leveraging local market insights
Negotiate favorable FX spreads with counterparties, ensuring fair pricing and cost control
Regulatory Changes: Continuously assess the impact of changes in regulation and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance
Collaborate with local finance and product leaders to deliver strategic local insights on fund flows, funding strategies, and market conditions
Coordinate and partner with other trading desks located around the globe to ensure alignment on trading strategies, risk management, and liquidity sourcing across regions.
You Have
8-15 years of experience in FX trading, treasury management, or financial services, with a focus on African markets
Deep understanding of the African FX ecosystem, including regulatory environments, market trends, and key players
Proven track record in building and maintaining relationships with banks, financial institutions, and other partners in the region
Strong negotiation skills to secure optimal pricing and access to funding sources
Expertise in managing FX risk and implementing effective hedging strategies
Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements for remittance and FX operations in African countries
Fluency English; French language skills highly desirable
Strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and represent Remitly to external partners
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to rapidly changing market conditions
Familiarity with emerging trends in digital payments and fintech innovations in Africa
Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred
