HSE Officer/Nurse

JOB PURPOSE

The HSE Officer / Nurse ensures the health, safety, and environmental well-being of employees by implementing HSE practices and delivering medical care. The role is dual in nature, focusing on both occupational health and safety compliance, and basic clinical support as required by workplace needs.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

A. HSE OFFICER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the QHSE Manager in implementing and enforcing company-wide HSE policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with HSE standards.
  • Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions to minimize risks.
  • Lead incident investigations, analyze root causes, and develop preventive measures.
  • Monitor and verify proper incident reporting, including submissions to regulatory authorities.
  • Maintain and analyze HSE performance metrics and report findings to management.
  • Coordinate and conduct safety training, toolbox talks, and emergency preparedness drills.
  • Ensure all employees, contractors, and visitors are informed of site-specific HSE protocols.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 (formerly OHSAS 18001) certifications.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across the organization.

B. NURSE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide clinical nursing care to employees in accordance with MoPH licensing and protocols.
  • Deliver first aid and medical assistance in emergencies, incidents, or injuries on-site.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and manage health-related documentation.
  • Support health surveillance programs, including routine employee health checks.
  • Educate employees on occupational health issues, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Coordinate with external medical providers or emergency responders when required.
  • Administer first aid, vaccinations, and support rehabilitation of injured personnel.
  • Ensure the clinic and medical equipment are clean, stocked, and compliant with regulations.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with valid MoPH license (mandatory)
  • Health and safety certification (mandatory)
  • First Aid and CPR certification (mandatory)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in combined HSE and nursing roles
  • Master’s in Public Health or related field (advantageous)
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial setting (preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent clinical assessment and patient care skills
  • In-depth understanding of fire and safety systems
  • Organizational and time management capabilities
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Knowledge of HSE frameworks and regulations
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, HSE software)
  • ERP system exposure (advantageous)
