Project Manager Role in Oil & Gas Industry
We are seeking a skilled Project Manager with an engineering background and experience in tank operations to lead our projects in the oil and gas industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and validate project schedules and budgets, track progress and costs, and take corrective measures to meet project objectives.
- Evaluate project needs and develop strategies to allocate resources effectively, ensuring productivity while optimizing costs.
- Collaborate with section managers to ensure timely delivery of required documents and resources, maintaining a well-organized workflow to avoid delays.
- Select suitable work methodologies after consulting relevant parties, oversee project site execution, and intervene as needed to ensure overall performance.
- Analyze QA/QC reports and client/consultant feedback, discuss findings with relevant parties, and ensure compliance with designs, specifications, standards, and quality requirements.
- Approve and validate operations involving additional costs, verify external provider work/products/services, and take measures to prevent exceeding quality and cost targets.
- Collect project metrics (baseline, actual values for costs, delays, work completed, productivity, etc.), identify deviations, report on project performance and progress, and develop action plans to secure profitability.
- Proactively manage contractual matters, negotiate variations/changes, and obtain technical support to defend against contractual breaches and preserve global interests.
- Oversee timely document production, submission, and reception, ensuring follow-up by concerned parties to prevent potential delays or undesirable events.
- Maintain proper document control and ensure systematic data entry on the BUTEC Information System to guarantee full traceability of project activities and prevent document loss/deterioration.
- Identify and analyze project-related problems, assess risks, and prepare mitigation plans to minimize costs and achieve project objectives.
- Organize regular meetings with project staff, communicate targets, discuss problems, and review work progress and challenges to foster team involvement.
- Ensure implementation of policies and procedures, including safety protocols, to maintain conformity on the project site.
- Liaise with external parties on project-related matters, discuss internally if necessary, and develop communication strategies to maintain mutually beneficial relationships.
- Lead and motivate team members, drive them towards successful achievements, provide coaching and support when needed, and cultivate a strong team spirit culture to boost internal productivity.
- Manage individual performance, identify internal talents, and coordinate with concerned parties to develop employees' potential.
Required Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Mechanical Engineering degree with PMP Certification. MBA or master's degree is desirable.
- Member of/accredited by the national engineering body in their country.
- Minimum 10 years of on-site experience.
- High level of leadership skills with a strong focus on quality, time, and cost.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English and Arabic – written and spoken.
