About the position

The Senior Business Intelligence Specialist will play a crucial role in collaborating with business stakeholders to design and develop custom Business Intelligence (BI) dashboards, metrics, and reports. This position requires a deep understanding of data analysis, identification of data sources, and the ability to modify data architecture as necessary. The specialist will be responsible for planning, conducting, and guiding the analysis of various business intelligence initiatives, ensuring that the solutions developed meet the needs of the organization and its users. In this role, the specialist will guide the design, development, and analysis processes to produce insightful dashboards and metrics, while also identifying trends or anomalies within the data. The position involves consulting with decision-makers to identify appropriate data sources, required data elements, and data validation standards. Collaboration with development teams is essential to design business intelligence solutions that facilitate effective data gathering, storage, and retrieval. The specialist will also work closely with end users to design and develop custom dashboards, metrics, and reports that align with their reporting needs. This includes translating business requirements into detailed technical designs and programming specifications. The role requires conducting data analysis to support the resolution of production issues and coordinating with other IT groups and departments to resolve problem calls. Documentation of all report-related activities, including user requests, report specifications, development, modification, testing, and ongoing production support, is also a key responsibility. The Senior Business Intelligence Specialist will create dashboard and reporting solutions tailored to user needs and requirements, ensuring the development of the entire dashboard life cycle, including coding, unit testing, bug fixes, and report design. Employees in this role will operate under limited guidance, tackling moderately complex to complex issues that require in-depth evaluation of variable factors. The specialist will also provide consultation on complex projects, including tools functionality, visualization, and data considerations, while collaborating with users to understand their analytic objectives and requirements for implementing reporting and analytic solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • ,
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, required.
  • ,
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • ,
  • Experience in liaising between business-facing roles and technical teams - translating complex business needs and technical concepts to business-friendly terms.
  • ,
  • Proven record of designing and building reporting/visualization and data products that enable data driven decision making and drive strategic insights.
  • ,
  • Proficiency in analytics, data profiling, data wrangling, data modeling, data visualization and documentation skills.
  • ,
  • Expertise in SQL (Microsoft SQL, BigQuery, etc.), relational and non-relational databases, data visualization, dashboarding and business intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau or Looker).
  • ,
  • Deep understanding of analytics, data quality, data engineering, and database principles and best practices for building scalable and reliable solutions.
  • ,
  • Ability to prioritize multiple concurrent projects and mentor junior members to deliver high quality results.

  • Accustomed to working with multiple projects with strict deadlines.
